PIANIST, PERFORMER, TEACHER
Rising Multimedia Artist and Curator
Eve Werger is a contemporary keyboardist, performing extensively on piano, synthesizer, toy piano and melodica. She specializes in the works of living composers, with a concentration on the voices of those less frequently heard. She is a founding member of Deaf Birds, an innovative multimedia duo linking contemporary keyboard music to interactive visual elements, which will be making its debut video release in 2021. An active chamber musician, Eve has performed across North America and Europe with ensembles such as Eighth Blackbird, Yarn/Wire, ~Nois, and the members of the Wet Ink, Fifth House, and Alarm Will Sound ensembles. She was the youngest-ever fellow to attend the Eighth Blackbird Creative Lab, and has proudly commissioned and premiered close to 30 new works in the past five years, including an album of solo piano music written by Minneapolis-based composer Isaac Mayhew.
Eve is a graduate of the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music (Appleton, WI) where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a double bachelor’s degree in both Piano Performance and German Cultural Studies. While at Lawrence, she studied piano with Dr. Michael Mizrahi, and her Senior Thesis was written on the life and works of composer-pianist Dr. Nancy Van De Vate, with whom she briefly studied in Vienna, Austria. Eve is currently pursuing her master’s degree at the University of Missouri (Columbia, MO), where she studies with Dr. Peter Miyamoto and Dr. Stefan Freund, and is a member of the Mizzou New Music Ensemble.
