Eve Werger is a contemporary keyboardist, performing extensively on piano, synthesizer, toy piano and melodica. She specializes in the works of living composers, with a concentration on the voices of those less frequently heard. An active chamber musician, Eve has performed across North America and Europe with ensembles such as Eighth Blackbird, Yarn/Wire, ~Nois, and the members of the Wet Ink, Fifth House, and Alarm Will Sound ensembles. She was the youngest-ever fellow to attend the Eighth Blackbird Creative Lab, and has proudly commissioned and premiered close to 30 new works in the past five years, including an album of solo piano music written by Minneapolis-based composer Isaac Mayhew. Most recently, Eve became the pianist for the Mizzou New Music Ensemble, in which she, along with the other members of the group, perform, record, and premiere music written by living composers, especially students, and collaborate with artists in diverse disciplines, such as film, dance, and the visual art.
Apart from performing and collaborating, Eve is a passionate and exuberant teacher. As the focal part of her career, her teaching stems from a creative and visionary approach; she passes on to her students a musical outlook that is holistic in approach and representative of the society in which her students exist. Her enthusiasm for music and her love of pedagogy is contagious, and her students exhibit her trademarks of knowledge about diverse genres and an encompassing experience of composers and repertoire, both contemporary and under-represented.
Eve is a current master's degree student at the University of Missouri (Columbia, Missouri) where she studies with Dr. Peter Miyamoto and is a member of the Mizzou New Music Ensemble. Eve is a graduate of the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music (Appleton, WI) where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a double bachelor’s degree in both Piano Performance and German Cultural Studies. While at Lawrence, she studied piano with Dr. Michael Mizrahi, and her Senior Thesis was written on the life and works of composer-pianist Dr. Nancy Van De Vate, with whom she briefly studied in Vienna, Austria. Eve is currently pursuing her master’s degree at the University of Missouri (Columbia, MO), where she studies with Dr. Peter Miyamoto and Dr. Stefan Freund, and is a member of the Mizzou New Music Ensemble.
